Master Degree in Nursing
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) at Minnesota State University Moorhead is designed to prepare registered nurses holding baccalaureate degrees in nursing for advanced roles in healthcare. The program builds upon general baccalaureate nursing competencies and provides specialty education and leadership necessary to meet the education needs of graduate nursing students. You will be better able to contribute to the advancement of nursing practice, collaborate in clinical practice, and form research partnerships in education and healthcare settings. The MS in Nursing offers two emphasis choices: Nurse Educator (NED) and Nursing Administration and Organization Systems Leadership (NAOSL). Three graduate certificates are also available for those who do not wish to pursue a full master's degree.
Orientation and all courses are offered online with monthly synchronous meetings using a virtual platform. Practical/experiential learning my take place in your home area, if appropriate. You will select academic and healthcare setting practica that fit your practice areas or populations of interest and the course objectives. Summer course offerings are available and individualized progression plans are designed around your unique needs.
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing and master's degree program in nursing at Minnesota State University Moorhead are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The graduate major in nursing used guidelines from national and specialty organizations to develop a curriculum that will prepare students for roles in nursing education and nursing administration/leadership of healthcare organizational systems.
The MS in Nursing offers provides you the option of two emphases: Nursing Education (NED) or Nursing Administration and Organization Systems Leadership (NAOSL). NED is built upon the art and science of nursing education within the changing contexts of healthcare, nursing, higher education and evidence-based practice. Advanced education in NAOSL addresses the growing need for systemwide leadership in the healthcare industry and increases the understanding of the complex systems and issues involved.
