Welcome to the Dragon Community: Christine Adams

Christine Adams is joining the Dragon Community as MSUM's newest HR business partner. The HR business partners work with six different groups of departments here on campus. Christine works with recruitment, onboarding, and any other HR related issues the departments might have.

Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: I'm originally from West Fargo, but I spent the last eight years in California. My husband and I both served in the Navy. He is finishing his master's degree this spring and has a job lined up at NDSU. I was looking for jobs in the area and this position lined up well with my skill set.

Q: Do you have any connections to MSUM?
A: Both my brothers and my mom graduated from MSUM. I'm excited to finally be a Dragon like the rest of my family!

Q: What's one thing that has surprised you about MSUM?
A: After living in California, it's so much colder than I remember! The other thing is that everyone here has been so kind and friendly; it's an incredible atmosphere.

Q: What energizes you outside of work?
A: My family. We have three young kids; watching them learn and grow is amazing. Anyone who is a parent knows that kids become their hobby when they are younger. They are really enjoying the snow right now.

Q: What's the best advice you were ever given?
A: The best advice I was ever given was about parenting. It was "crying just means they're breathing." Being a parent can be overwhelming. This advice helps me keep everything in perspective.

Q: Are you a dog person or a cat person?
A: Well, normally I'm a dog person but right now we have two cats. I love dogs, but with the season of life in the Navy, having a dog didn't make sense. One day I think we will get a dog, but for now I'm a temporary cat person.

Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
A: One thing that surprises people is that I'm a pretty good basketball player. I played a lot in high school; in college I did some intramurals.
